I used Hugin, but I think other stitching software can also be used on a single image just to change projection. I have changed some of my images to cylindrical projection using panoramic stitching software, which often converts images to cylindrical projection to make them easier to stitch together over very wide angles of view. Some old film cameras used cylindrical projection to obtain panoramic images, but I haven't heard of any commercially available digital cameras using cylindrical projection.

Often a cylindrical projection gives a better rendition of faces at the edges of the shot, although it makes some straight lines appear curved. Ordinary lenses give a rectilinear projection (straight lines are preserved, but other shapes may be distorted). This can be handled in a number of ways, but relying on barrel distortion in the lens is a very crude way to do it, although it probably works quite well in some cases.Įssentially, you need to change the projection of the image. I think you are talking about the wide-angle perspective distortion that is present towards the edges of the image, most noticeable for ultra-wide-angle shots. This is fine for most photos, and with my cameras it gives nice straight lines but it also creates fat bloated faces at the edge of the photo. Panasonic micro four thirds cameras apply the lens correction to raw files automatically in the camera. No idea whether it does well specifically for Lumix Raw as opposed to other Raw formats. It's not intuitive compared to Aperture and I suspect Lightroom, but unlike more limited software like Sylkipix, getting used to the awkwardness may pay off more. Have you tried Darktable? Can't beat the price (free) or the power (very powerful) or the platform independence. May have to stay stuck in the past.Īny advice or thoughts from m43 photographers would be most welcome. Seems tough finding anything as good as Lightroom 6 even though it’s 3 years old. Maybe I should just move to Fuji or Sony mirrorless instead? It’s a shame Panasonic don’t provide a better Raw Editor like Fuji & Sony do with Capture One. I’m guessing SilkyPix is the officially supported editor for Panasonic Raw, but I had a quick look at the SE version and it seemed really awkward to use. Has anyone had any better luck with finding a good raw editor for m43 or Lumix? The only one I can find is Exposure X5 but it seems to render some of my Panasonic RW2 files in a strange way. Raw Power looks promising, but no where near Lightroom yet. Luminar seems to have sold out to one click happy snappers.

Lumix RW2 images have lens correction built in, but I don’t always want fat faces caused by lens correction.Ĭapture One Pro & DxO PhotoLab Elite are too pricey, ON1 Photo Raw doesn’t allow fringe removal when lens correction is disabled. It’s a shame m43 cameras are overlooked so much. The biggest issue is disabling lens correction, whilst enabling fringe removal.

I’ve trialed quite a few raw photo editors recently on Mac OS, but am having trouble finding anything well suited to Micro Four Thirds cameras and in particular Panasonic LUMIX.

If you'd rather simply go down the webcam route, check out our guide to the best webcams that are still in stock – or if you own a camera from another manufacturer, head to our how to use your DSLR or mirrorless camera as webcam guide.Apologies if this has been asked before Like a lot of folk I’m looking for an alternative to the ageing Lightroom 6 as photography is just a hobby and I hardly use Photoshop, so the Adobe subscription just isn’t suitable. It's not exactly foolproof, then, and you'll also need to add OBS VirtualCam to use your camera as a webcam. Finally, choose your service (for example, Facebook Live), paste in the stream key, then choose 'Lumix Tether Live View' from the OBS sources list. In the bottom right-hand corner of OBS, head to Studio mode and then click 'Auto Configuration Wizard' in the 'Tools'.

That shows you a preview of your broadcast source – you can tweak the quality to 'Fine', before heading into OBS.

Once you've downloaded and installed the software, and connected your compatible Lumix camera via a micro HDMI cable, click the 'LV' button to head into Live View mode.
